Matching Wood Surfaces

When it comes to choosing hardwood floors, homeowners often assume that they need to match all the wood surfaces in their home–kitchen cabinets, hardwood flooring, built-in’s, etc.  The correct design answer to that question is “absolutely not”.  Woods can contrast or harmonize with each other beautifully.  Varying the wood tones in a room actually adds visual interest and character.  Over the next year, look for traditional wood colors to be influenced by subtle gray undertones.  Colors in general still focus on browns, with gold and neutral bases.  (Be sure to visit Cardell Cabinetry under the Specialty Products tab at top of page.)
