Tile
Tile and Porcelain – Tile is one of the most versatile styling materials for any countertop. Manufacturers have outdone themselves in creating vast selections of sizes, shapes, colors, patterns, textures, and finishes that will satisfy your every creative need. Add to that listellos, trim pieces, deco tiles, borders, and specialty pieces, and you have all the tools you need to produce counters and wall treatments that earn focal point status. Tile is durable, non-staining and scratch resistant. It can chip or break, however, and it’s important to note that there are shade variations inherent in ALL fired ceramic products. Certain tiles will show greater variation within their dye-lots. Many manufacturers will list what the shade variation is, with a low, medium, or high rating. It is possible that trim pieces may vary in color from the field tile as well. Natural stone-like ceramic tiles are made to emulate the look of natural materials, and will intentionally show a variation in color and pattern. That is part of the beauty of the overall design. Grout is available in coordinating or contrasting colors for your tile counters, and grout lines will need to be sealed periodically for optimum performance.
